I have just watched an ad which really moved me. It's for Amnesty International. The title of the ad is 'You are Powerful'. It's all about ordinary people having the power to change things. To support a cause that goes into troubled areas and stands up for what's right. I'm putting this in my blog because I was looking for an appropriate christmas message for our brand. Our brand is all about you being insured. I know it seems trivial to talk about brands and products in relation to such a noble cause but if this message moves just one person slightly to stand up to the wrongs of the world then I'll risk commercialising this message. Please join Amnesty International now and help them with their fight. au.youtube.com/watch?v=Pa0K-joc61I
Oh and big respect to the agency, Mother in London. This was beautifully executed. (excuse the pun)
To all of you out there Merry Christmas and let's hope we can weather 2009.

careers at youi car insurance
I'm happy to report that the business is going so well that we're hiring lots of new sales people. I'm making a quick video to put on the website about working at Youi on the Sunny Coast. Check it out soon on the site www.youi.com.au
music video 2.0
I was just on this cool website for Radiohead. You can create your own music video from 12 cameras as the song plays. Have a look...www.wowow.co.jp/music/radiohead/special/
The possibilities are becoming endless...where to for insurance? If you can create your own video, can you create your own quote?

Why do other insurers not ask you more questions?
These days some people think that everything should be over simplified in order to provide a better user experience. But as they try do this the user is wanting to know more. Google has made everybody a researcher. The net result (pardon the pun!) is that people want things to be more accurate and reflect their own set of circumstances. It's why customisation has become such a big thing. And why web 2.0 uses so much customisation. Users want to be involved and want to feel that the company caters for their needs. At Youi car insurance we recognised this trend, so rather that strive to ask fewer questions, we're not afraid to ask a few more, so that we can get to a 'customised' quote for the user. Our pay-off line 'car insurance 2.0' reflects this. (Although nobody seems to get the connection!) I was stoked to see the bankingblog did make the connection. Check out the blog they wrote at http://bankingreview.blogspot.com/2008/11/insurance-20.html

Christmas 2.0
We've just customised our site for Christmas. Have a look: www.youi.com.au Christmas is starting so early in retail these days. I think it's okay 3 weeks before...Glenn did a great job. (Glenn Wilkinson is our banner and home page guru. He also designed our logo...which I think was inspired!)

Car Insurance 2.0 looking good!
Car Insurance 2.0...seems we're on the money here. I was reading an article in an American advertising magazine called Creativity about the Obama campaign...
...'There is a message and design discipline, the embrace of social media, and -most importantly-an openess to the idea that candidates, like brands, are built from the bottom up rather than the top down. As Scott Goodson, founder of StrawberryFrog says. "He is not a brand in the traditional sense, he is a cultural movement." Call it Politics 2.0.'
Can we succeed in the Australian market like Obama has?
Yes we can!
